Tom wasn't just my boyfriend he was also my best friend and he was taken away from us all far too
soon. I had known him since we were little, where ever I was, you could guarantee he wasn't too far
behind. Not a day go by when I don't think about him.
On 11 July 2005, he came to meet me. The road was clear no cars were insight, as he crossed the
road I remember hearing the screech of car wheels, next thing I remember is seeing him lying there
on the floor, motionless. I cradled him in my arms and begged him to stay with me, but it was no
use - when the ambulance arrived he was pronounced dead. I don't remember much after that, I didn't
want to let him go - let them take him from me. I was asked questions that I couldn't answer, my
mind went blank and I just wanted to go home and wake up from the nightmare of that night.
